Danni build - February 13: Milling the cylinder and making the endcaps

Milling the cylinder flat

The cylinder needed a flat section milled into it to fit the steam chest.

Making the endcaps

I also made the cylinder endcaps on the lathe.

Drilling the holes

I used a small rotary table to position the holes. The DRO on this small mill did not have a hole-pattern mode.

When I later worked on my Stuart Beam engine, I had a DRO with that feature. I found it a lot easier than the rotary table, with less setup involved.

Where I stopped

This was the stopping point for the day, with the cylinder and endcaps laid out on the bench.
