Danni build - February 20: Eccentric, Bushings, and Steam Chest Fitting

Making the eccentric and checking the fit

Making the eccentric with its offset hole was the big job today. There are now a lot of pieces that need to fit together and move, so I could start trying them together during the build to check that they would work.

Fitting the steam chest

The steam chest was now complete. Here it is sitting on the cylinder for a test fit; it had not been brazed in place yet.

Fitting the valve rod

The valve uses a rod running in a honed hole. I bought a set of hones as required for the kit. Getting this fit right is important: there is no separate seat here, so the seal relies on the tight tolerances.

Progress at the end of the day

Lots more progress by the end of this session!
